THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE | 1299 – 1922

The Ottoman Empire and Osman Bey; The Sublime Ottoman State (Ottoman Empire) was a major Turkic-Islamic state founded by Osman Bey in 1299, spanning three continents for over 600 years. With its military, political, and cultural power, it left a profound mark on both Turkish and world history.

Osman Bey became the first ruler by establishing the Ottoman Principality in 1299. He expanded the Kayi Tribe through conquests, laid the foundations of the state organization by creating administrative positions such as the kadı (judge) and subaşı (superintendent), and minted the first Ottoman coin. As a brave and just leader, he gathered Turkmen chieftains around him, thereby increasing the military and political strength of the Ottoman state.
